The Greatest Love

  • by

To know the love of Christ is to know the greatest love. The love of Christ has inspired me to love myself and others. When Christ extended His love towards me, I was lost and broken. I was without hope and ready to leave this world. But God saw something in me that I could not see within myself.
He saw me as His creation. He knew there was potential in my life to be what He had created me to be. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
Once I was able to put aside my own self-will and self-loathing, I could see that I had value. I had a purpose. He brought people into my life who loved me for me. They love every good thing and love me in spite of every flawed thing.
The love of Christ helps me to love others as He has loved me. I pray daily for the Lord’s help so that I might see and treat others as His desire would be.
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God towards us because that God sent his only begotten son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loves us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another” (1 John 4:7-11).
